Tech. Sgt. Angel Gomez, a Reserve boom operator with the 78th Aerial Refueling Squadron, makes preparations to a KC-10 Extender to unload humanitarian cargo at the aerial port on Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Jan. 9. Gomez and fellow reservists from the 78th ARS picked-up the cargo from Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station, Minn., and delivered it to Charleston as part of a Denton Program mission. The Denton Program allows humanitarian cargo to be shipped for free onboard military aircraft on a space-available basis. In this case, the cargo consisted of approximately 40,000 pounds of fortified, rice-based meals intended for impoverished people living in Afghanistan, several hours west of Bagram Air Base.
