Honoring a proud Heritage

MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, NJ - Col. James L. Kerr, 514th Air Mobility Wing Commander (right) stands on stage with Lt. Gen. (Ret) Russell Davis, Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. The ceremony was to recognize and honor the accomplishments and bravery of the Tuskegee Airmen in World War II. The ceremony was the first official event of the Tuskegee Airmen's 37th annual convention held in Philadelphia July 17 to 20. Col. Kerr opened the ceremony with his remarks and Lt. Gen. (Ret) Davis gave the keynote speech. Afterwards they assisted with the unveiling of a new street sign featuring the Congressional Gold Medal in recognition of the Tuskegee Airmen's award received in March 2007. Tuskegee Airmen, Incorporated is a national organization that works to honor the accomplishments and perpetuate the history of the enlisted African-American men who enlisted during World War II to become America's first black military Airmen, ground crew and mechanics.
