JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST --

The Department of the Air Force Chaplain Corps recently announced its 2020 award winners. Awards have been given to both active duty and reserve personnel. One of the awards has been won by an Airman from the 514th Air Mobility Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, N.J.

Master Sgt. Donald A. Ramos, superintendent of religious affairs with the 514th AMW, received the 2020 Air Force Chaplain Corps Citizen Airman Award, given to the most deserving outstanding reserve religious affairs airman.

On April 11, 2021, Col. William H. Gutermuth, 514th AMW commander, and Chief Tige E. Platt, 514th AMW command chief, gave their congratulations and expressed their gratitude for Ramos’ hard work.

Ramos accomplished much to earn this award in addition to his position as superintendent for religious affairs for the 514 AMW.

One of his notable achievements in 2020 was facilitating the 514th AMW Diversity and Inclusion Program to promote respect and tolerance within the Freedom Wing.

He also held the position of non-commissioned officer in charge of religious services for COVID-19 Relief Operations. He developed and managed the Chaplain Crisis Center which provided crisis support, counseling, and spiritual care for Reserve Citizen Airmen and joint mission partners who all mobilized to New York City to assist COVID operations.

The Freedom Wing is proud to have this outstanding Airman within its ranks and greatly appreciates his dedication to the well-being of its Reserve Citizen Airmen.
