Freedom Wing announces its award recipients for 2012

The 514th Air Mobility Wing named its 2012 award recipients during the annual awards banquet held March 9 at the Tommy B's Community Center here.

Those selected were:

Senior Airman Sean Barrett, 514th Civil Engineer Squadron, Airman of the Year

Master Sgt. Shawn Jones, 514th AMW, Noncommissioned Airman of the Year

Senior Master Sgt. Constantine Karamargin, 714th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Senior NCO of the Year

Master Sgt. Joseph Gentile, 76th Air Refueling Squadron, First Sergeant of the Year

Capt. Christopher Mazzey, 35th Aerial Port Squadron, Company Grade Officer of the Year

Ms. Linda Cherubini, 514th Force Support Squadron, Outstanding Civilian of the Year, Category I

Ms. Kassandra Keitt, 514th AMW, Outstanding Civilian of the Year, Category II
Freedom Wing award recipients were:

514th Maintenance Group took the group award and the 78th Air Refueling Squadron earned the unit award.

Three special awards were also presented at this year's banquet. Winners for these awards were:

Col. Paulette Schank, 514th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, received the Joseph A. McNeil Award given to the individual or group that exemplifies citizenship and service to others.

Chief Master Sgt. Chryl Ruff, 514th AMDS, received the Chief Master Sgt. Antoinette Kolesnikov Mentoring Award recipient. Named after recently retired Chief Kolesnikov, the individual or group who best displays the spirit of mentorship is selected for this honor.

Lt. Col. Samuel Irvin, of the 514th Operations Support Squadron was named the John Purroy Mitchel Cup recipient. The award, named after the second youngest mayor of New York City, is presented for outstanding leadership and advocacy of the United States Air Force Reserve culture.
