Colonel Giordano McMullen assumes command of the 514th Air Mobility Wing from Col. James L. Kerr in a ceremony here Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. The presiding officer will be Maj. Gen. James T. Rubeor, commander of 22nd Air Force at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Ga.

Colonel McMullen is no stranger to commanding a wing. From April to October 2007, he served as the commander of the 913th Airlift Wing at Willow Grove Air Reserve Station, Penn. When the 913th was disbanded in October 2007, he came to the 514th AMW as a special assistant to Colonel Kerr. Colonel McMullen was then promoted to vice commander, a position he has held since October 2008.

Colonel Kerr, who has served as wing commander since July 2006, will become the new director of the Air Force Reserve Command's Professional Development Center at Robins Air Force Base, Ga.

"Commanding the 514th AMW was the highlight of my 33-year career," Colonel Kerr said. "Although very demanding, the rewards of associating, serving and commanding so many loyal Americans are priceless."

Nearly 3,000 Air Force Reserve Airmen of the 514th AMW provide air refueling, airlift and aeromedical evacuation missions using the KC-10 Extender and C-17 Globemaster III.
