514th AMW announces winners of first wing-level HRDC award

MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE, N.J. -- --  Group and unit levels wing-wide have another opportunity to be recognized with the start of two new annual awards thanks to the 514th Air Mobility Wing Human Resources Development Council Recognition Committee.  

The first HRDC Freedom Wing Awards were presented to the 514th Mission Support Group and 78th Air Refueling Squadron Jan. 12 during the Reserve wing's 8th annual awards banquet held at The Club. 

"The purpose of these awards is to recognize a group and squadron for their effectiveness in administering to the professional career requirements of unit members and for recognizing their accomplishments," said Lt. Col. Raymond Douglas, chairman, HRDC Recognition Committee. 

The recognition committee identified the award winners based on set factors using a point system. One factor is taken from the officer performance report and enlisted performance report rate. The group and unit with the lowest percentage of overdue OPR/EPRs earn points, said Colonel Douglas. 

Other criteria include airman of the quarter nominations, award nomination packages and award and decorations. Using the wing's alpha roster reporting system, groups and units with the lowest level of members that have not received an award during a three-year period will be identified. Additionally, five points will be awarded to each unit for members selected under the Wing Commander's Coin Recognition Program. 

Points are periodically assessed and accumulated. 

"Point evaluations are distributed on randomly selected dates during every quarter of the calendar year or on a semiannual basis as determined by the 514th HRDC Recognition Committee. 

The 2007 group and unit winners received a permanent trophy for recognizing their achievement and an additional trophy. 

"The additional trophy can only be retained by the winner by being selected again at the next 514th AMW annual award banquet," said Colonel Douglas. "Otherwise a new winner will receive this trophy."
