Col. William Gutermuth selected as next Freedom Wing commander

Col. William Gutermuth, commander of the 514th Operations Group, has been selected as the next commander of the 514th Air Mobility Wing. 

Gutermuth will take command of the Freedom Wing in March from Col. Thomas Pemberton, who has led the wing since 2018.

Prior to arriving to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in 2020, Gutermuth served as the 446th Operations Group commander at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. The colonel is a command pilot with more than 5,000 flying hours in various aircraft including the C-130H and C-5M. 

Pemberton will go on to serve as the commander of the 434th Air Refueling Wing, Grissom Air Reserve Base, Indiana.
