JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- The 514th Air Mobility Wing Legal Office was recognized as 4th Air Force’s 2024 Outstanding Legal Office of the Year for their exceptional accomplishments, including negotiating with and educating New York City, the San Antonio District Attorney, and a Pennsylvania school district on the rights of reservists to generate beneficial outcomes for Freedom Wing members and for attendees of all DoD Basic Military Training programs.
The notification came directly from Col. Alan Goodwin, 4th Air Force Staff Judge Advocate.
“There was extremely stiff competition,” said Goodwin. “The 514th edged out the other, very strong nominees because of a successful UEI [Unit Effectiveness Inspection] that was headlined by recognition of DSJA [Deputy Staff Judge Advocate] Lisa Anello as a Superior Performer because of her exceptional professionalism, technical expertise, excellence, and demonstrated performance above and beyond the expected standard.”
Lt. Col. Dan Doyle, 514th AMW Staff Judge Advocate credits his team’s remarkable skill and work ethic for this recognition.
“This team is exceptionally cohesive, professional, and motivated,” said Doyle. “Pick a superlative, and this team embodies it. They are truly outstanding, and I feel lucky to work with them.”
Reserve wing-level legal offices provide counseling, assistance, and select legal services to wing members and their dependents. They also advise commanders on relevant civil laws and disciplinary processes.
Next, the 514th AMW Legal Office will compete for the Air Force Reserve Command 2024 Outstanding Legal Office of the Year, before ultimately being considered for the most prestigious 2024 Air Force Legal Office of the Year.
