Cameras flashed as celebrities made their way up the red carpet toward the Dolby Theater in glamorous Hollywood, Ca. Joining the stars on Oscar night would be a dream for most people but for one Airman, Maj. Karen Hennigan of the 514th Air Mobility Wing legal office, that dream became reality when she was invited to be a guest at the 86th annual Academy Awards March 2.

Hennigan said the experience was thrilling to see so many famous people in one room, and after a while, just like attending the most amazing party.

Many actors made her feel right at home. Oscar winner Jared Leto offered her vegan snacks during the show and "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth, minus his famous hammer, offered his seat. Even designer Tadashi Shoji tweeted his admiration for Hennigan's red carpet outfit featuring an evening gown from his own collection, she said.

Her favorite part of the show was viewing the U2 performance from the second row of the colossal theater. And when she wasn't high-fiving celebrities, Hennigan managed to grab a slice of the infamous pizza that host Ellen DeGeneres ordered onstage.

When asked how it tasted she replied, "It was good, but not quite as good as real New York pizza!"
