JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- The 514th Air Mobility Wing hosted its annual Employer Appreciation Day here, Saturday. Eighty civilian employers visited the base to learn how their reserve employee supports the Air Force Reserve.
Participants experienced a mock deployment line upon check-in, spoke to wing leadership and then flew on an orientation flight on either the KC-10 Extender tanker to observe in-flight refueling or the C-17 Globemaster III cargo aircraft and witnessed an aeromedical training flight. The employers also learned about support functions during the hangar display with hands-on demonstrations from maintenance, security forces, aerial port, administrative and civil engineer functions.
In a post event survey, all of the employers expressed their knowledge of the Air Force Reserve increased, and in some cases doubled, from their day's exposure of the Freedom Wing mission and people.
