Denton

Tech. Sgt. Angel Gomez, a Reserve boom operator with the 78th Aerial Refueling Squadron, makes preparations to a KC-10 Extender to unload humanitarian cargo at the aerial port on Joint Base Charleston, S.C., Jan. 9. Gomez and fellow reservists from the 78th ARS picked-up the cargo from Minneapolis-St. Paul Air Reserve Station, Minn., and delivered it to Charleston as part of a Denton Program mission. The Denton Program allows humanitarian cargo to be shipped for free onboard military aircraft on a space-available basis. In this case, the cargo consisted of approximately 40,000 pounds of fortified, rice-based meals intended for impoverished people living in Afghanistan, several hours west of Bagram Air Base. The meals will be distributed by U.S. Army personnel. (U.S. Air Force photo by Shawn J. Jones)
