Aircraft Restoration
JOINT BASE MCGUIRE-DIX-LAKEHURST, N.J. -- Airmen from the 514th Maintenance Group and 305th Maintenance Squadron evaluate the progress of the removal of a mount that was connected to the landing gear of a C-118 Liftmaster in an aircraft maintenance hangar here March 4, 2011. Liftmasters were the first cargo airplanes stationed here and helped the base to define its role as an air mobility gateway. The C-118 is being restored by active-duty Airmen, Reserve Airmen and civilians in an effort to return the aircraft to its position as a static display on the traffic circle near the passenger terminal here. Pictured here are: Technical Sergeants Justin Fletcher (top left), 514th MXG; Joseph Martinek (bottom left), 305 MXS; Jarod Jones (bottom right), 305th MXS; and Senior Master Sgt. Christopher Hofrichter, 514th MXG. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Shawn J. Jones)
