An E2-D Advanced Hawkeye from Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. approaches a KC-10 Extender from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst for an aerial refueling January 12. Members of the Naval Air Systems Command, NAS Patuxent River, Md. the 418th Flight Test Squadron, Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. and the 76th Air Refueling Squadron, JB MDL, N.J. spent two months testing and verifying the Hawkeye’s ability to refuel with the KC-10. The Advanced Hawkeye is the first version of the E2-D able to refuel mid-flight, extending its range, endurance and give it more flexibility in its missions. (Air Force photo by Master Sgt.
