CMSgt Gayla R. Gibson is Command Chief, 514th Air Mobility Wing, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. As Command Chief, she advises the commander on all matters relating to readiness, training, professional development, force utilization, operations tempo, health, morale, welfare, and leadership of more than 1,600 members of the wing.
Chief Gibson entered the Air Force in April 2001. She graduated from the Medical Service Apprentice training course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, in April 2002. In addition to being a medical technician, she excelled in numerous management and leadership roles, including Self-Assessment Manager, Noncommissioned Officer of Flight 1 for Nursing Services, Assistant Nursing Services Superintendent, as well as mastering the Medical Readiness Decision Support System to track and maintain training for Nursing Services staff. Chief Gibson served overseas in Germany, South Korea, and deployed in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM AND IRAQI FREEDOM. Prior to her current position, Chief Gibson was Senior Enlisted Leader at 482d Mission Support Group, Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida.
As a civilian therapist and insurance broker, Chief Gibson empowers people to grow into their best selves, protect their future, and ease the financial burdens of their loved ones. Prior to these roles, she served the community as a communications specialist with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for 17 years. Chief Gibson also volunteered as a sexual assault victim advocate for the YWCA Sexual Abuse Response Team and an assistant nurse coordinator for Health Protection and Education Services and currently serves as a Service to the Armed Force Resiliency Trainer with the American Red Cross.
